(WNY News Now) – Community Through Hockey gears up for its 8th Annual Community Hockey Game, set to take place on Saturday, October 7th, at 7 pm in Jamestown, NY’s Northwest Arena. This year, the event rallies behind the cause of 9-year-old Mia Curtin from Dunkirk, NY, who battles the rare brain disorder, Rasmussen’s Encephalitis.

Jamestown – Mia’s journey began in April 2022, marked by the onset of Rasmussen’s Encephalitis, leading to paralysis and severe seizures. In April 2023, she underwent a Right Functional Hemispherectomy to control her seizures, and now, she’s making strides toward recovery, even preparing to rejoin her passion for ice hockey. Admission to the game is free, with a basket raffle, large item raffle, and 50/50 drawing to support the cause. Since 2015, the event has raised a remarkable $62,600 for local families and organizations. The community is encouraged to attend this heartwarming event.
