(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced the arraignment of 30-year-old man who faces allegations of making a punishable false written statement.

Buffalo – Treviaco D. Calhoun, 30, of Buffalo appeared before Buffalo City Court Judge Phillip Dabney, Jr. yesterday, where he was arraigned on charges of Making a Punishable False Written Statement, a Class “A” misdemeanor. The allegations stem from an incident on August 22, 2022, in which Calhoun purportedly filed a false complaint against a Buffalo Police officer with the Internal Affairs Division.

He claimed that the officer had physically assaulted him during an arrest for disorderly conduct on August 19, 2022. An investigation by the Buffalo Police Department revealed that Calhoun’s statement was false. Calhoun remains in custody due to two pending criminal cases. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Calhoun is also allegedly entangled in multiple other criminal cases:

On January 7, 2023, Calhoun and two co-defendants were accused of knowingly possessing a stolen vehicle and crashing it into a home. He was released on his own recognizance as the charges did not qualify for bail.

On February 14, 2023, Calhoun allegedly caused a disturbance inside the Buffalo City Court building, leading to his arrest for trespass and disorderly conduct. He was given an appearance ticket.

On February 24, 2023, he allegedly unlawfully entered a nurse station at ECMC, leading to his arrest for resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct. He received an appearance ticket.

On February 26, 2023, Calhoun was accused of assaulting a hospital public safety manager at ECMC. Bail was initially set at $5,000 cash, bond, or partially secured surety bond, and later at $50,000 cash, bond, or partially secured surety bond when he was indicted on a charge of Assault in the Second Degree.

On May 30, 2023, Calhoun faced charges of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and disorderly conduct after allegedly refusing police orders and causing damage to a patrol vehicle. Bail was set at $100 cash, $1,000 bond, or $1,000 partially secured surety bond.

Calhoun is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference on these additional cases on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
