
(WNY News Now) – A 32-year-old resident of Depew, faced arraignment today before West Seneca Town Court Justice Jeffrey M. Harrington, charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, and other offenses stemming from a tragic collision in July.
West Seneca – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn has announced the arraignment of Zachary P. Poisson, who stands accused of causing a fatal head-on collision while allegedly under the influence of cocaine. The incident occurred on July 24, 2023, around 5:30 a.m. on Clinton Street in West Seneca. The collision resulted in the tragic death of 49-year-old David Sion of Elma.
Poisson is facing multiple charges, including Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, Reckless Driving, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. He also faces two Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
For these charges, bail has been set at $15,000 cash, bond, or partially secured surety bond. If convicted of the highest charge, Poisson could potentially serve a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
The defendant is scheduled to return for a felony hearing on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
