(WNY News Now) – Chautauqua County officials have issued a cautionary statement regarding an unauthorized fundraising campaign linked to the U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association, emphasizing their non-involvement and support for different initiatives.

Chautauqua County, NY – On October 16, 2023, at 3:00 pm, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office made an official announcement concerning an unapproved fundraising endeavor associated with the U.S. Deputy Sheriff’s Association. The campaign has not been coordinated with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and is not endorsed by local authorities.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office clarified that they neither endorse nor receive assistance from this organization. Instead, they continue to support and recommend the New York State Sheriff’s Association and the New York State Sheriff’s Institute, which provide vital support services and host an annual Sheriff’s summer camp. This camp allows Chautauqua County to send local children at no cost.
