Jamestown, N.Y. – The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Jamestown (UUCJ) is set to continue its cherished Halloween Book Giveaway tradition this year. On Tuesday, October 31, during Jamestown’s Trick or Treat hours from 6 to 8 p.m., the UUCJ, located at 1255 Prendergast Avenue, will open its doors to children, teenagers, and adults. Attendees can indulge in treats, peruse a diverse collection of books for all ages, and partake in simple crafting activities if desired.
Motivated by research underscoring the vital role of books in fostering literacy and educational achievement, the UUCJ Social Justice Committee is dedicated to increasing book accessibility for Jamestown’s children. Outside the church building, two book boxes, one for children and one for adults, are stocked with free books for the taking. Furthermore, the church actively promotes reading by gifting books to kindergarteners at Fletcher Elementary School.
Convenient parking is available behind the church for attendees. For more information about UUCJ, visit their website at UUJamestown.org.
