KY Man Arrested for DWI and Related Charges in Town of Sheridan

(WNY News Now) – On October 24, 2023, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Cook Rd in the Town of Sheridan. The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of a 49-year-old resident of Fort Thomas, KY, on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI), aggravated DWI, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Town of Sheridan – Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office were called to Cook Rd in the Town of Sheridan at approximately 9:56 pm on October 24, 2023, following a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, they identified the vehicle’s operator as 49-year-old Steven C. Schmidt, a Fort Thomas, KY resident.

Schmidt was apprehended and taken into custody after it was determined that he had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He now faces multiple charges, including DWI, aggravated DWI, and the consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.


Following his arrest, Schmidt was released with citations and is expected to appear in the Town of Sheridan court on a later date.
