West to Brooks Ave.), 7th St. (from Woodrow Ave. West to Brigham Rd.), and Woodrow Ave. (from Lucas Ave. North to 6th St.).

All other streets, not mentioned above, will follow alternate parking regulations during the winter months.

Alternate Parking Regulations:
The alternate parking regulations will change from weekly to daily, starting on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, at 5:00 PM, and continuing until Saturday, April 6th, 2024. According to these regulations, vehicles must be parked only on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days and only on the even-numbered side of the street on even-numbered days. The determination of the side for parking is based on the date following 5:00 PM. The city aims to provide a grace period of approximately one hour before and after the 5:00 PM changeover time. However, vehicles moved before about 4 PM or not relocated by around 6:00 PM will be tagged for Alternate Parking Overnight (APO) violations.

Enforcement and Towing:
Warning notices will be issued initially, but strict enforcement, including parking summonses, will follow shortly. Vehicles in violation of overnight, alternate, or any other posted regulations that hinder snow removal by the Public Works department or pose a hazard for the access of emergency vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. It’s important to note that vehicles blocking sidewalks and hindering sidewalk plowing will also be ticketed and towed if necessary.

The City of Dunkirk urges residents to pay attention to snow plow operators and assist them by giving the right of way during snowstorms. The city expresses its gratitude to residents for their cooperation during the previous winter season and hopes for continued support during the upcoming winter season.

The Dunkirk Police Department seeks the cooperation of all residents, workers, and visitors in adhering to the parking regulations to ensure a safe environment for all. For any questions or concerns related to parking regulations, please contact the Communications Desk at 716-366-2266.
