Woman Arrested in Jamestown for Second-Degree Assault Attempt

(WNY News Now) – A 31-year-old Jamestown resident was arrested on November 3, 2023, for attempted second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and an outstanding bench warrant, following a confrontation with law enforcement officers.

Jamestown – On the afternoon of November 3, 2023, at around 1:27 PM, officers from Jamestown’s First Platoon encountered Kayla M. Wiberg, a 31-year-old Jamestown resident, in front of her residence. The encounter took place as Wiberg had an existing bench warrant from Jamestown City Court.

When the officers attempted to apprehend Wiberg, she actively resisted arrest. As the situation escalated, additional officers arrived at the scene to assist in taking her into custody. During the struggle, Wiberg bit one of the officers on the leg, causing visible injuries. After a brief but intense altercation, the officers managed to apprehend her.


Subsequently, Wiberg was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she was processed on her outstanding bench warrant. In addition to the bench warrant, she now faces charges of attempted second-degree assault and resisting arrest. Wiberg is currently being held pending her arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
