Festive Decorations Adorn McClurg Museum

(WNY News Now) – The McClurg Museum in Westfield is set to host its Just Desserts open house, adorned with festive decorations, on Sunday, November 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., in partnership with the Chautauqua County Historical Society.

Westfield – In the spirit of the holiday season, McClurg Museum, a historic 14-room Federal-style mansion dating back to 1818, will welcome the public to its Just Desserts open house. The event, generously sponsored by the Chautauqua County Historical Society, is part of the Christmas in Westfield program and offers free admission to all interested visitors.

During the open house, guests can explore the mansion’s rooms and collections, getting a glimpse of its grand salons and formal spaces that once stood in stark contrast to the homes of frontier settlers in the area. Festive decorations on the first floor will feature curated and antique ornaments, adding a touch of historical charm to the holiday season.

McClurg Mansion’s historical significance is underscored by its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. This event aligns with the mission of the Chautauqua County Historical Society, which is dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the history of Chautauqua County through the collection, preservation, and interpretation of locally significant objects and archives.

The open house promises not only a delightful cultural experience but also a chance to enjoy refreshments, adding to the warmth and festivity of the occasion.
