(WNY News Now) – U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that two Yorkshire, NY, men were arrested and charged by criminal complaint with narcotics conspiracy and distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and a $1,000,000 fine.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who is handling the case, stated that according to the complaint, in February 2023, the Drug Enforcement Administration and New York State Police began investigating the alleged drug trafficking activities of Cody R. Bemish, 30, and Zakary A. Bemish, 22, in the Town of Yorkshire. Between March 8 and March 30, 2023, investigators conducted five controlled purchases of fentanyl and methamphetamine from either Cody or Zakary Bemish.
Cody and Zakary Bemish made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and are detained.
The complaint is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in Charge Frank A. Tarentino III, New York Field Division, and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Eugene Staniszewski.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
