(WNY News Now) – A fatal collision occurred on State Route 5 in Stafford as a 2010 GMC Sierra struck a 74-year-old while he was retrieving his mail, resulting in his tragic death.

Batavia – On November 9, 2023, at 5:21 P.M., Troopers from SP Batavia responded to the incident. The investigation revealed that the westbound GMC Sierra, driven by a 52-year-old, entered the turn lane at Batavia-Stafford Townline Road, colliding with Ehmann. Despite prompt life-saving efforts by paramedics, James R. Ehmann, 74 of Stafford, NY  was pronounced deceased at United Memorial Medical Center.

The driver showed no signs of impairment or device usage during the collision. The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation collaborated in the investigation.
