Buffalo – The NWS Buffalo NY has issued a High Wind Warning for Chautauqua and Southern Erie counties, in effect from 9 AM to 11 PM EST on November 21. Anticipated are southeast winds ranging between 30 to 40 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 60 mph. The areas most affected are expected to be along the Lake Erie shore and near north and northwest-facing slopes.

The warning highlights potential impacts, including the risk of trees and power lines being blown down, leading to scattered power outages. Travel is expected to be challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles along the NY Thruway, where the strong southeast winds pose a crosswind hazard.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid outdoor activities in forested areas or near trees and branches. If possible, staying on the lower levels of homes is recommended, with an emphasis on avoiding windows. Those who must travel during this period are advised to use caution.
