(WNY News Now) – A 47-year-old Buffalo resident, was arraigned on Tuesday before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice David Stevens on charges including Robbery, Menacing, and Drug Possession following an incident at Walden Galleria.
Buffalo – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn disclosed that Hector L. Colon stands accused of committing multiple offenses at a department store inside the Walden Galleria on Saturday, November 25, 2023. The charges include Robbery in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Menacing in the Second Degree, Petit Larceny, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The alleged incident unfolded around 4:18 p.m. when Colon purportedly forcibly stole merchandise, specifically two fragrance sets valued at $330. Subsequently, he exited the store without completing a purchase. When confronted by asset protection officers, Colon reportedly brandished a pocket knife, threatening the security personnel before fleeing the scene. Cheektowaga Police apprehended him shortly afterward, discovering him in possession of the stolen items and a glass pipe with suspected crack cocaine residue.
Colon is scheduled to appear for a felony hearing on Thursday, November 30, 2023, before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice John J. Wanat. The bail has been set at $15,000, with potential consequences including a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted on the highest charge.
