(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Earlier this afternoon, Jamestown Public Schools responded to a report of a student who was in possession of a BB gun in their backpack at Jamestown High School. Following the report, the JHS SRO took possession of the BB gun from the student without incident. JPS will pursue significant disciplinary and legal consequences.

Based on recommendations from the district’s Safety & Security Committee, JPS has been testing weapons detection systems at home football games and are scheduled to test them at home basketball games. In light of current events, the district will continue to review their potential use at Jamestown High School.
