Jamestown, N.Y. – On December 6, 2023, at around 2:15 pm, officers from the 1st platoon responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle at the 7-Eleven located at 1011 E. 2nd Street. Acting swiftly, officers managed to locate the stolen vehicle an hour later when it returned to the same location and parked in the business’s parking lot.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified the operator as Chad E. Walters. The pursuit concluded when the stolen vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle accident in the Town of Poland. Attempting to evade authorities, Walters fled into a nearby garage. The Jamestown Police Department, aided by the K-9 Unit, swiftly apprehended Walters without further incident.
Chad E. Walters now faces charges of Grand Larceny 3rd, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Reckless Driving in Jamestown City Court. Additional charges from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office are under consideration. The Jamestown Police received assistance from the Town of Ellicott Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office during the incident. Walters is currently held, pending arraignment, in the city jail.
