(WNY News Now) – In the early hours of December 6, 2023, a violent incident unfolded on the south side of Jamestown, NY, resulting in the arrest of 33-year-old Jamestown man. 

Jamestown, N.Y. – At approximately 12:30 am, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon arrived at a residence where a reported altercation was taking place. On the scene, they found Jeffery M. Smith, a 33-year-old resident of Jamestown, refusing to descend from a porch roof despite repeated commands.

Investigations revealed that Smith had allegedly assaulted two individuals with a baseball bat and bitten another victim multiple times. Following the incident, Smith descended from the roof but continued to resist arrest, leading to a brief struggle with law enforcement. Despite the resistance, officers successfully took him into custody.

Smith now faces serious charges, including two counts of Assault in the 2nd Degree, one count of Assault in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest. Currently, he is held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court.

The victims, who sustained injuries during the altercation, received medical attention. The Jamestown Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident.
