(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a 30-year-old  Buffalo man pleaded guilty this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek to eight counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (Class “B” felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to all counts in the indictment against him.

On July 31, 2022 at approximately 1:00 a.m.,  Marcus D. Edwards, while under the influence of alcohol, was operating a Jeep Grand Cherokee at a high-rate of speed westbound on Broadway when he drove through the intersection of Bailey Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The defendant caused a collision with a Jeep Liberty that had right-of-way while turning onto Broadway. The driver of the Jeep Liberty, 68-year-old Nathaniel Robinson, Sr., and his passenger, 35-year-old Sherry J. Lewis, were killed in the crash.

Edwards faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. He continues to be held without bail.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Accident Investigation Unit for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine O. Murray of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
