(WNY News Now) – Hanover, NY – In a routine patrol on Christmas Eve, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 41-year-old Dunkirk, NY, man for driving under the influence.

On December 24, 2023, at approximately 8:16 PM, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a routine patrol in the Town of Hanover, resulting in the arrest of Miguel Altunar-Mateo. The deputies stopped Altunar-Mateo’s vehicle for a suspected traffic violation and, following an investigation, determined that he was allegedly operating the vehicle while under the influence.

The 41-year-old male resident of Dunkirk, NY, was subsequently charged with DWI, DWI per se, and failing to keep right. Altunar-Mateo was taken into custody and transported to a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Substation for processing. He was later released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
