(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A collaborative effort between Jamestown City Police and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of two individuals on charges including Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th, False Personation, and Drug Possession.
On January 1, 2024, at approximately 12:45 PM, Jamestown City Police officers from the 1st Platoon responded to a call for assistance from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office in locating a stolen vehicle on the east side of the city. The stolen vehicle was reportedly seen on Hopkins Ave. Officers successfully located the vehicle on Hopkins Ave, where they witnessed a male fleeing from the driver’s seat.
The female passenger, identified as 43-year-old Julie Capizzi of Frewsburg, was apprehended without incident. Meanwhile, the male driver, later identified as 47-year-old David Vanguilder, attempted to provide false information to the officers. Vanguilder, a Jamestown resident, was subsequently taken into custody.
Capizzi, found in possession of suboxone strips without a prescription and a quantity of fentanyl, faces charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th. She was released with an appearance ticket.
Vanguilder, already wanted on felony Bench Warrants from Jamestown and additional charges from the Town of Ellicott Police, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, and Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office related to the stolen vehicle, faces charges including False Personation and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd. Following arraignment, Vanguilder was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail on his outstanding warrants.
