(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) Buffalo NY has issued a High Wind Watch from 10:15 AM EST on January 7 until 4:00 AM EST on January 10 for several counties in Western New York.

Residents in Northern Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, and Allegany counties should be prepared for southeast winds ranging from 35 to 45 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 65 mph. The watch is effective from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night, posing risks of downed trees, power outages, and challenging travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises closely monitoring forecasts and warnings for updates and securing loose objects or sheltering them in a safe location before the onset of strong winds.
