(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 72-year-old John E. Dziedzic of Clarence was arraigned this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case on an indictment charging him with three counts of Failure to Register and/or Verify As A Sex Offender (Class “E” felonies under New York Corrections Law) and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class “A” misdemeanors).
It is alleged that on Monday, October 9, 2023, New York State Police troopers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at a motel on the 900 block of Main Street in the Town of Clarence. The defendant allegedly approached two juveniles and offered them marijuana to come to his motel room.
The next day, the defendant was arraigned in Clarence Town Court and remanded due to his prior felony convictions. After his arrest for the alleged crime in the Town of Clarence, Dziedzic was arrested by the Buffalo Police Department on a warrant for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender. The defendant allegedly did not update his photo, did not update his address and did not confirm his address on a form issued by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Dziedzic is scheduled to return on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He continues to be held without bail.
If convicted of the highest charge, Dziedzic faces a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.
DA Flynn commends the New York State Police Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision parole officers for their work in this investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rachel Kranitz McPhee of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
