(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) Buffalo has issued a Storm Warning, effective from January 12 at 1:59 PM EST until January 14 at 4:00 PM EST, impacting the nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Ripley to Buffalo.

A Gale Warning is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 9 AM EST Saturday, with south winds reaching 35 knots and waves expected to be 7 to 10 feet. Subsequently, a Storm Warning is set from 9 AM Saturday to 4 PM EST Sunday, bringing southwest winds up to 50 knots and waves anticipated to reach 14 to 18 feet. Mariners are advised to remain in port, alter course, and secure vessels due to potentially hazardous waves, capable of causing damage or capsizing, and reduced visibility. Issued by NWS Buffalo, these warnings urge precautionary measures for those navigating the affected waters.
