(WNY News Now) – A 29 year old woman has been charged with Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon after stabbing a 35-year-old female victim in the stomach during an altercation on Hope Avenue.
On Monday, January 15th, 2024, at 7:58 P.M., officers responded to a stabbing call at Midland Discount Market (1434 Midland Avenue). They found a 35 year old female victim stabbed in the stomach. The victim was promptly transported to Upstate Hospital and is expected to survive. Investigation revealed 29 year old Niaya Winstead as the suspect, who allegedly stabbed the victim during an altercation on Hope Avenue before the police arrived. Winstead was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. The incident underscores the swift response of law enforcement in addressing violent incidents.
