(WNY News Now) – In the early hours of 01/26/2024, Jamestown Police detained a 33 year old man on Winsor St / Chandler St for riding a bicycle without lights. The incident escalated when officers discovered an active bench warrant for his arrest.

Around 12:30 AM, Jamestown Police encountered Angel M. Melendez riding a bicycle without proper lights. Subsequent checks revealed an outstanding bench warrant in the City of Jamestown. Upon attempted arrest, Melendez resisted, leading to a brief struggle. Law enforcement successfully apprehended him and transported him to the city jail. Melendez faces charges of resisting arrest, riding a bicycle without lights, and the pre-existing bench warrant. Currently, he is held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court.
