(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A 27-year-old male, faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, petit larceny, and violating Jamestown city code after a routine street check on Feb. 28, 2024 at 6:47 pm.

In an incident near W. 5th St and Fairmount Ave, Jamestown police officers from the 2nd platoon observed Braxton M. Achterberg riding a bicycle on a public sidewalk, violating city code. A check revealed an active warrant for petit larceny.

Upon arrest, Achterberg was allegedly found in possession of Methylphenidate, a controlled substance, leading to an additional charge. Held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court, he was released with an appearance ticket for a later court date.
