(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, N.Y. – Audubon Community Nature Center invites you to join Janine Chimera for a fun, rhythmic, interactive experience with hand drums and assorted percussion instruments.

Chimera leads a Circle of Rhythm Drumming Class at the nature center on  Saturday, March 16, 10–11:30 a.m. She will provide all of the instruments and lead the group through a series of activities involving rhythm.

The class is open to all ages, but children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

A group drumming facilitator trained in the researched-based wellness program HealthRHYTHMS, Chimera is experienced in providing fun and creative drumming interaction for adults, children, and individuals with special needs. She believes everyone can make music and that drumming is a great way to build connections, be playful, and make music together with ease.

Chimera is a certified therapeutic musician who plays several instruments and also uses sound vibration tools to promote relaxation and wellness. After a career in speech-language pathology, she is now focusing on the joyful and healing aspects of music.

Fee for the class is $11 for adults, $8.25 for children ages 3–15 and Nature Center members.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, N.Y., and Warren, Pa. You can visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, and hike,  snowshoe or cross country ski over five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 – 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
