(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY – Chautauqua County Jail thwarts alleged drug smuggling attempt; two people apprehended during routine visitation security on March 1st.

In a proactive move against illicit substances infiltrating the Chautauqua County Jail, Corrections Officers intercepted Tammra Topliffe, 43, allegedly passing Suboxone, a controlled narcotic, to inmate Preston Lawrence, 30. The arrest highlights the persistent challenge faced by corrections officers combating drug proliferation. Authorities stress the severe consequences of compromising jail integrity and inmate safety.

Both Topliffe and Lawrence face felony charges of Promoting Prison Contraband and Criminal Sale/Possession of a Controlled Substance.
