(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – In the early hours of March 7, 2024, a routine traffic stop on Fulton Street escalated into the arrest of a 27-year-old Jamestown resident, on charges including Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree and a bench warrant for Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Around 01:39 AM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon stopped a red Jeep for alleged observed traffic infractions. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, Austin J. Muntz, had an active bench warrant for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Additionally, Muntz faced charges of Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the 2nd Degree and several traffic citations.
Notably, Muntz was found to have an active stay-away order of protection with a passenger in the vehicle. Taken into custody, Muntz is now held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. Charges include Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the 2nd Degree, and various traffic violations. He is also expected to answer the active bench warrant during the court proceedings.
