(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – The Jamestown Fire Department (JFD) efficiently contained a detached garage fire at 21 Euclid Avenue, with a rapid response involving two engine companies, one ladder company, and 14 members.

On March 7, 2023, at 1:05 pm, JFD responded to flames engulfing a garage-type structure, located 50 feet from the nearest residence. Within ten minutes, fire crews deployed two hand lines, bringing the blaze under control. Despite a 30-minute full extinguishment effort and an additional hour for hotspot control, salvage, and overhaul, no injuries were reported, and the garage was unoccupied at the time of the incident. The cause remains undetermined, but initial assessments point to the center of the garage near a partition wall. Ten off-shift firefighters, two investigators, and one off-duty Shift Commander assisted, with Alstar Ambulance treating one victim for smoke inhalation. Jamestown PD, BPU, and City of Jamestown Dept. of Development collaborated in managing traffic, crowds, and investigating the scene.
