(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – On Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1:15 p.m., Jamestown City Hall will host a pinwheel garden planting ceremony in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The event, organized by the Saraden Randall Chautauqua Child Advocacy Program, aims to foster awareness and action against child abuse in Chautauqua County.

Joined by Jamestown Mayor Kim Ecklund, Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt, and Carmelo Hernandez, Director of Chautauqua County’s Department of Mental Hygiene and Social Services, the ceremony will feature the planting of pinwheel gardens at City Hall and Jamestown Public High School. This symbolic act underscores the community’s commitment to creating safe and supportive environments for children and families.

The event, livestreamed on YouTube, invites public participation alongside local officials, law enforcement, and community leaders. Following remarks, attendees will plant pinwheel gardens at City Hall before embarking on a symbolic walk to Jamestown High School for further planting, amplifying the message of child abuse prevention.
