Syracuse Police have made an arrest in connection with the homicide of Jamar Martin, aged 32, at 306 Basin St. on March 20, 2024.

On March 20, 2024, Syracuse Police Officers responded to a status check at 306 Basin St., where they discovered Jamar Martin, born on October 22, 1991, deceased. The Criminal Investigation Division’s Homicide Unit initiated an investigation, conducting interviews and executing search warrants. As a result, 22-year-old Destany Widger was identified as a suspect.

On April 3, 2024, Widger was apprehended without incident in the 700 block of E. Laurel St. She faces charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Widger is currently held at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending arraignment.

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the CID.
