Jamestown, NY – Steven W. Walsh, a 50-year-old Jamestown resident, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and prohibited burning following an incident at 86 Steele St on April 7, 2024 at 5:52 AM.

At approximately 5:52 AM on April 7, 2024, Jamestown police responded to reports of a fire in a wooded area near 86 Steele St. Upon arrival, officers found Steven W. Walsh attempting to conceal himself in the woods while exhibiting erratic behavior.

Walsh, ignoring commands from officers, continued to feed the fire he had started and wielded large branches aggressively. Despite officers’ attempts to take him into custody peacefully, Walsh lunged at an officer, prompting a struggle that resulted in his arrest.

Further investigation revealed Walsh had an outstanding bench warrant related to a previous prohibited burning incident. He was charged with resisting arrest and prohibited burning, both violations of Jamestown City Code, and is currently held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
