On April 16, 2024, Jamestown Police uncovered a disturbing scene during a probation check at an East Side residence, leading to multiple arrests and charges related to drug possession, firearm violations, and endangerment of children.

During a routine probation check on Michael Melendez Bane, 45, officers stumbled upon a cache of illegal items at the East Side residence. The discovery included methamphetamine, packaging indicative of drug distribution, a digital scale, and a Mossberg Rifle with a defaced serial number, all found in possession of Bane, a convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms. Bane faces charges for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (Felony), and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd.

The situation escalated as officers observed two children in deplorable living conditions, with no running water, no proper bedding, and significant garbage accumulation, rendering the environment unsafe. Consequently, Marissa Morris, 34, the children’s mother, was arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Further investigation led to the discovery of James Morris, 29, hiding in a closet, violating a Stay Away Order of Protection involving Marissa. James faces charges for Criminal Contempt 2nd. All three individuals were apprehended and await arraignment at the Jamestown City Jail.
