(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A 25-year-old Jamestown resident, faces charges of Manslaughter in the Second Degree after the tragic death of a 16-month-old child, with a bail set at $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond.

On April 15th, 2024, the Jamestown Police Department initiated a homicide investigation following the suspicious death of a 16-month-old child on April 13th, 2024 on Maple Street, Jamestown, New York 14701. Matthew E. Nuttall, 25, of Jamestown, was identified as the suspect in causing the death of the toddler through blunt force trauma.

After receiving notification of the incident on April 15th, authorities swiftly launched an investigation, culminating in Nuttall’s arrest by the Jamestown Police Department Investigative Section on April 17th. Subsequently, Nuttall was charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree and arraigned in Jamestown City Court on April 18th by Honorable George Panebianco. Bail was set at $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond.

Following a preliminary hearing on April 22nd, Nuttall was held for action by the Chautauqua County Grand Jury. He remains in custody as the Jamestown Police Department collaborates with the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, the Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office, and the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office to present further charges before the Grand Jury.

Mr. Nuttall is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
