(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY -a 42-year-old resident of Jamestown, has been apprehended by the Jamestown Police Department on charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child after a 2-year-old under his care was found wandering alone near a South Side address.

On April 29, 2024, at approximately 4:15 PM, authorities responded to reports of a lost child in the South Side area. Upon arrival, officers located the toddler, who had wandered away from the residence under the supervision of Gerald A. Samuels Sr., his grandfather. The child had strayed into a nearby parking lot, where a concerned neighbor discovered and reported the situation.

Samuels, who had inadvertently fallen asleep, was taken into custody without resistance. The child was safely reunited with their mother, who arrived shortly after law enforcement. Thankfully, the toddler sustained no injuries during the incident.

Gerald A. Samuels Sr. is currently being held pending his arraignment at Jamestown City Court.
