(WNY News Now) – Westfield, NY – A domestic dispute between two brothers on April 30th, 2024, in Westfield, NY, escalated into an alleged physical altercation resulting in an assault charge against a 69-year-old man.

At approximately 9:45 AM, the Westfield Police Department responded to reports of a verbal and physical confrontation between the brothers. Allegedly, Peter Mott struck his brother in the neck with a metal hammer during the altercation. In self-defense, the victim retaliated by hitting Peter with a porcelain coffee cup. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital by Westfield Rescue for treatment. Peter Mott was subsequently arrested for Assault in the 2nd Degree, a class D Felony, under NYS Penal Law Charge: 120.05(2). The case is now closed by arrest in the Village of Westfield. The investigation was conducted by the Westfield Police Department with assistance from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and Westfield Fire Department.
