(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A Jamestown resident faces two counts of Assault 2nd after allegedly assaulting hospital staff during a disturbance at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital on May12, 2024.

On May12, 2024, at approximately 9:31 AM, authorities responded to a disturbance call at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital, involving a disorderly individual. Upon arrival, officers found Rashaun M. Smith, a 45-year-old Jamestown resident, being restrained by UPMC Security guards. According to hospital staff, Smith had allegedly physically assaulted employees who were attempting to provide medical care.

Smith’s alleged actions resulted in him being taken into custody and subsequently charged with two counts of Assault 2nd. He was held pending his arraignment at Jamestown City Court.
