(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY – The Chautauqua County Health Department (CCHD) in collaboration with the Town of Westfield and Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue is offering a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets aged three months and older.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 8th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Town of Westfield Highway Building (118 Chestnut St., Westfield, NY 14787), this clinic requires pre-registration due to limited spots. Pet owners are urged to register online promptly to secure a spot, with walk-ins accepted at the clinic’s discretion.
Vehicles will follow a designated traffic pattern on-site, with pet owners remaining in their vehicles unless otherwise directed. Previous rabies vaccination records are mandatory, and animals must be on leashes or in carriers. Vaccination is crucial as per New York State Public Health Law, which mandates vaccination for all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets over four months old.
Rabies poses a severe threat, transmitted through saliva and potentially fatal if left untreated. Common carriers include raccoons, bats, skunks, and foxes. To learn more or register for the clinic, contact the Town of Westfield Clerk at (716) 326-3211.
