(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, N.Y. – Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) is putting out a call for more volunteer help during this particularly busy time of year. 

Whether you have particular skills or just want to lend a hand, there are opportunities for you: 

• Maintenance Volunteers are needed every Tuesday and Thursday to help maintain the building and grounds. Whether you can paint, drive a tractor, dig holes, or help maintain the trails, you are needed. 
• June 15 Dragons and Fairies Festival requires a total of 70 volunteers to park cars, take admissions, help children and families make crafts, navigate the obstacle course and take a carriage ride, and more.
• June 17 Mailing Committee Volunteers put together the July/August Newsletter as you enjoy coffee, tea, and snacks.
• Education Volunteers – those who have a love for the outdoors and sharing their knowledge with others – are needed for Discovery Walks, education programs, and outreach. Experience with the Nature Center is preferred, but not necessary.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, N.Y., and Warren, Pa. You can visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve, check in on the live birds of prey, enjoy the native tree arboretum, gardens, picnic area, and natural play space, and hike over five miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free. 

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, winners of the 2023 Nature Photography Contest, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1–4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
