The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western Cattaraugus, Western Erie, and Chautauqua Counties in Western New York until 1:30 PM EDT.

At 12:37 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected near Wattsburg, 19 miles southeast of Erie, moving east at 55 mph. The storm is bringing 60 mph wind gusts, which may cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Impacted areas include Jamestown, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Allegany State Park, and several other locations.

Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.
