(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – On May 23, 2024, at 2:15 PM, officers from the 1st Platoon responded to a shoplifting complaint at Brooklyn Square in Jamestown, NY. The business reported that a white male had allegedly stolen two cases of beer and fled the scene. Police quickly located the suspect, identified as a 23-year-old man walking on Forest Avenue.

Upon spotting the officers, Joseph B. Trippe allegedly dropped the stolen beer and attempted to escape south on Forest Avenue. However, he was swiftly apprehended. Trippe was transported to Jamestown City Jail without injury and charged with Petit Larceny and Resisting Arrest. He is currently being held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court.
