(WNY News Now) – On May 20, 2024 a 72-year-old man appeared before the Honorable Melissa Lightcap Cianfrini for sentencing on his conviction of 9 counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child and 3 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child.
There was no plea bargain in the case. WILLIAM E. WALLACE pleaded
guilty to the entire indictment unconditionally.
The Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office argued for a state prison
sentence. The Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office set forth that Defendant possessed “multiple images of pre-pubescent female children” and some of the images contained children being subjected to sexual abuse. Defendant had previously admitted to the NYS Police that he has been looking at images of child rape/sexual abuse for the last five years.
Defense Counsel, as well as the Wyoming County Probation Department,
recommended that Defendant be sentenced to probation.
The Honorable Melissa Lightcap Cianfrini sentenced WILLIAM E.
WALLACE to SIX months in the Wyoming County Jail with ten years’ probation supervision. Due to the nature of the offenses, Defendant will have to register as a sex offender. The matter was adjourned for a SORA (Sex Offender Registration Act) hearing until August 22, 2024.
