A fatal collision between an electric bicycle and a bus occurred on Friday evening at the intersection of South Salina Street and West Beard Avenue in Syracuse.

On Friday, May 24, 2024, at approximately 6:24 PM, Syracuse Police Department officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of South Salina Street and West Beard Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim lying in the roadway. Emergency medical providers from American Medical Response transported the victim to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim, a 40-year-old male whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was operating an electric bicycle traveling southbound on South Salina Street. The electric bicycle collided with a bus that was traveling northbound on South Salina Street and turning left onto West Beard Avenue.

The Syracuse Police Traffic Division is currently investigating the incident. Authorities urge anyone with information about the collision to contact the Syracuse Police Department Traffic Division at (315) 442-5130.
