(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – The Prendergast Library is excited to host the Third Annual Community Block Party on Saturday, June 29th, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This family-friendly event promises a day filled with music, food, games, arts & crafts, an Artisan Marketplace, and interactive outdoor activities for all ages. Cherry Street at 5th Street will be closed to traffic, though the library’s parking lot remains accessible from 6th Street. Lind Funeral Home is the proud sponsor of this year’s event, ensuring it’s free and open to the public.
New Features and Classic Favorites
Artisan Marketplace
Making its debut this year, the Artisan Marketplace will feature twenty local artisan vendors on the library’s first floor. Shoppers can explore a variety of handcrafted items including photography, fiber arts, jewelry, vintage upcycled products, baked goods, and skincare products.
Nonprofit Organization Fair
Twenty nonprofit organizations will be present outside on Cherry Street, offering valuable information on community programs, services, and upcoming events.
Special Booksale and More
The event also includes a Special Booksale with new bestsellers, unique finds, vintage books, children’s books, and puzzles. This will be located at the front of the library on the first floor. Additionally, the daily book sale at the back of the library will feature a bag sale—fill a bag of books for just $5, though items from the Special Booksale are excluded.
Activities and Entertainment
On the library patio, visitors can enjoy music performed by students and instructors from Infinity Visual & Performing Arts. There will be an Art Tent with collaborative activities, a Makerspace Tent with hands-on STEM activities, and a Library Fundraising and Information Tent. Food trucks from Best of Buffalo and Off the Stick Ice Cream Company will be on-site to satisfy your cravings.
Outdoor Fun and Games
Guests can engage in lawn games like cornhole, giant Jenga, and horseshoes, and explore the library’s beautiful gardens. The Garden Tent will offer seedlings, information on native plants, and student-submitted poems celebrating nature.
Summer Reading Celebration Kickoff
June 29th also marks the beginning of the library’s Summer Reading Celebration, which runs until August 24th. Attendees can sign up at the Block Party or anytime during the summer. The Summer Reading Tent will provide all necessary information and feature scratch-off prizes for those who register during the event.
