Gowanda Man Arrested After Motorcycle Pursuit

Yorkshire, NY – On May 30, 2024, a high-speed chase ended in the arrest of 31-year-old Zachery M. Burdic of Gowanda, NY. Burdic faces multiple charges, including Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third Degree.

Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb reported that deputies initiated the pursuit after identifying a stolen motorcycle traveling southbound on RT 240 in the Town of Ashford. At approximately 5:01 PM, officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Burdic failed to comply, leading to a high-speed chase.

The pursuit concluded on RT 16 in Yorkshire, where Burdic was apprehended. He now faces charges under several New York State laws, including Penal Law 165.05 for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and Penal Law 270.25 for unlawfully fleeing a police officer. Additional vehicle and traffic citations were also issued.

Burdic was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ashford Court at a later date.
