Authorities allege that on May 7, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Buffalo Police responded to Del Denby’s Tavern on Hertel Avenue following reports of a shooting. The victim, 46-year-old Madjid Elbert, was found with a gunshot wound and later pronounced dead at ECMCC. Quinones is accused of intentionally shooting Elbert, resulting in his death.

Quinones is currently held without bail and is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference on July 12, 2024, before State Supreme Court Justice Paul Wojtaszek. If convicted, he faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane commended the Buffalo Police Department for their thorough investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher S. Safulko of the Homicide Bureau.

As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
