A high-speed chase through Dunkirk culminated in the arrest of a parole violator with an outstanding warrant from Pennsylvania.
On the afternoon of June 12, 2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, a high-speed vehicle pursuit unfolded in Dunkirk, NY, leading to the capture of 29-year-old Justin G. Schreier of Dunkirk. The incident began when the New York State Police initiated a pursuit of Schreier’s vehicle, which was last seen near Rt. 5 and Willow Rd.
Shortly thereafter, Dunkirk Police officers spotted the speeding vehicle on Lake Shore Dr E near Brigham Rd. Despite attempts to stop the car, Schreier continued to evade law enforcement, heading south on Brigham Rd and then east onto E 2nd St. The chase ended when Schreier abandoned his vehicle in a driveway on Woodrow Ave and attempted to flee on foot. Officers apprehended him following a brief pursuit and the deployment of a taser.
Schreier was taken to Dunkirk Police Headquarters, where he was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd, Reckless Driving, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd, among several other vehicle and traffic law infractions.
Further investigation revealed that Schreier was on parole and had an active extraditable warrant from Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Consequently, he was also charged as a Fugitive from Justice and is currently being held pending arraignment. Additional charges from the New York State Police may follow.
