(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY – A 24-year-old resident of Jamestown, was sentenced today, June 17th, by Judge David Foley to four years in state prison with three years of post-release supervision. The defendant was convicted of Assault in the Second Degree, a class D violent felony, for his involvement in a brawl at the Wine Cellar in Jamestown on July 30, 2022.

The incident erupted into violence, leaving four individuals injured. Codie Swartz was found to have attacked one victim and subsequently injured three others who tried to intervene. The Jamestown Police Department apprehended Swartz after he fled the scene. In January 2023, a Chautauqua County Grand Jury indicted him on three counts of Assault in the Second Degree and one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree.

On October 5, 2023, Swartz pled guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree as part of a plea deal that dismissed the remaining charges. The District Attorney expressed gratitude to the Jamestown Police Department for their diligent efforts in resolving the case. Assistant District Attorney Andrew Molitor prosecuted the case.
