Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb reports a recent incident involving Dustin C. Smith, 41, of Ashford NY, arrested for DWI and drug possession on June 19, 2024, on Route 240.
On June 19th, 2024, at approximately 8:08 PM, Dustin C. Smith, a 41-year-old resident of Ashford NY, was taken into custody by law enforcement authorities. The arrest followed a traffic stop on Route 240 in the Town of Ashford, where Smith was allegedly found to be driving while intoxicated. Subsequently, a search incident to arrest revealed that Smith was also in possession of a controlled substance.
Smith was then transported to Ellicottville Police Department for a chemical test, which he refused. Following this, he was taken to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was ultimately processed and released on an appearance ticket along with multiple uniform traffic tickets. Smith is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ashford Court at a later date for further proceedings related to the charges.
