(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Jamestown woman on multiple charges, including narcotics possession and evidence tampering.
On June 26, 2024, at approximately 6:08 PM, officers from the 2nd platoon conducted a vehicle and traffic stop near the intersection of Newland Avenue and Hazzard Street. During the stop, officers discovered that a passenger, 44-year-old Rosa L. Lopez of Jamestown, had outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Jamestown Police Department.
Lopez was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Lopez was allegedly in possession of a small quantity of cocaine, which she attempted to swallow. The officers successfully recovered the substance without further incident.
Lopez now faces additional charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Felony Tampering with Physical Evidence, alongside her existing warrants. She is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
